IT'S THE FREAKIN' CHEEK END, BABY

I just posted the info on the last of CHEEKY. Yes, that means the last blog posts that I make about my beloved band are soon to come. Also, we put up a new track from WHAT THE HECK, called "Two Face Basket Case" on our myspace, so you can check that out too.

:

HEY FRIENDS,

As you may or may not already know, Cheeky is breaking up. We'll be playing THREE LAST SHOWS:

Fri 10/30 (7pm) at THE KICKSTAND in GAINESVILLE, FL @ THE FEST VIII

Fri 11/27 (6:30pm) at PET CEMETERY in NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ with LIGHTEN UP! and NIGHT BIRDS
[ ask around for address, keep it word of mouth ]

Sat 11/28 (7pm) at DEATH BY AUDIO in BROOKLYN, NY with ZOMBIE DOGS, SLINGSHOT DAKOTA, STUPID PARTY & SHELLSHAG
[ this show is a benefit for the Walk for PKD / please respect the space / no outside booze ]

We're putting out an 8-song 12" with Freedom School Records, which should be available in a limited amount at The Fest and definitely available at the last shows. It's also available for preorder now from Freedom School Records, shipping on 11/4. We'll have other merch at the shows - buttons, a live tape, tee-shirts and 7"s. After the 12", we have a split 7" with Tenement coming out on Rally Records. We apologize if you've asked for stuff through mailorder, we've never been good with that.

So as always, thanks so much to our amazing friends, folks who have booked us shows, put out our records, let us borrow their equipment or vehicles, who drove us around, people who helped book our tours that did or didn't happen, y'all who danced and sang and showed us a good time. And don't worry, we're all already in or starting new projects, so we're sure we'll see you around.

We love you, you fucking twinkies.

Bethlehem, PA

This weekend ruled. Friday a whole bunch of our good friends came to the Brooklyn Cathouse show. All the bands were great. We had a pi(e) party rager afterwards, too. Laura pied Cynthia in the face. Things got wild.

Saturday was the first time Cheeky ever played (or ventured to) Jan's Room, which was pretty exciting. We got to hang out with Jordan and Boutros a lot. Sunday we all went to Bethlehem, PA to visit the Vegan Treats bakery! Oddly enough I had been scouring these treats on the internet all week. Angie and I got a chocolate peanut butter bomb that was amazing (see Angie with bomb, above - can you tell how excited we were)?

February Happenings

My first trip in February was actually to go see my girls in Carnal Knowledge play a show with Pinhead Gunpowder at 924 Gilman St. It was kind of a big deal, because I haven't been to California since I was like, 6. Also because there was a large migration of NY folks out to this show, and the weather was fantastic. And for other obvious reasons.

Laura, at Thrillhouse. Carnal Knowledge played a show here Saturday night before the Gilman show with Floral Beef, Blonde Ambition, Delay, and Here Comes a Big Black Cloud.

Morgan took us to see a real life pet cemetary in the Presidio, SF! This happened at like 3AM so it was super creepy. This is after we saw sea lions at the pier. It ruled.

The line outside of the Gilman show.

BROOKLYN MEETS BERKELEY

Ironically, Cristy and I ended up staying at the same house, after playing phone tag all week and never actually getting in touch with each other. Then the morning after I arrived there, homegirl showed up at the front door.

This is my girl Sandra's backyard (in Bayview, SF). In case you can't tell, that's a real life orange tree with fresh oranges on it. This photo was taken in FEBRUARY, also. Wait... I live in New York... ?

I kinda promised myself I wouldn't do the "oh awesome boring airplane photos" thing, but because it was my first trip alone across the country, I kinda had to.

Another thing that occured in February was Singuya played their first show with Cheeky, Sleepwall, Halfway to Hell Club and Everything Sucks in Bethpage, LI. Singuya is made up of most of Suicide Fix, plus Janel ripping the mic.

Full speed ahead, March. Cheeky is leaving for another weekend, this time with Slingshot Dakota. Those dudes are leaving for a month and a half, so y'all should check out their tour!
