GROW FINS, TURKEY

Jess is doin' dishes & takin' names in a new Cheeky shirt. I drew the design (that's Carl from OVER THE EDGE, not J Sulley... contrary to popular belief) -- Jason Roy, Angie, Brian and I printed 'em on an excursion to SUNY Purchase involving beer, pizza, weird wine, and Black Sabbath. We also have patches and stickers with the teeth design by Mike Hunchback (for more info on all of this: http://myspace.com/cheekyli).

In other Cheeky news, Darren and Charlotte met us at the show in Allentown this weekend. Darren took a bunch of awesome photos and posted them at Just a Visual -- he also posted video of the entire Cheeky set from Rembrandt's on Feb. 16th, so be sure to check that out!

Note: check out Perry's review of the shirt here, at his t-shirt blog. His shirt looks a little shaky - one can only hope we gave it to him for free. (3/18/2010)

Bethlehem, PA

This weekend ruled. Friday a whole bunch of our good friends came to the Brooklyn Cathouse show. All the bands were great. We had a pi(e) party rager afterwards, too. Laura pied Cynthia in the face. Things got wild.

Saturday was the first time Cheeky ever played (or ventured to) Jan's Room, which was pretty exciting. We got to hang out with Jordan and Boutros a lot. Sunday we all went to Bethlehem, PA to visit the Vegan Treats bakery! Oddly enough I had been scouring these treats on the internet all week. Angie and I got a chocolate peanut butter bomb that was amazing (see Angie with bomb, above - can you tell how excited we were)?

February Happenings

My first trip in February was actually to go see my girls in Carnal Knowledge play a show with Pinhead Gunpowder at 924 Gilman St. It was kind of a big deal, because I haven't been to California since I was like, 6. Also because there was a large migration of NY folks out to this show, and the weather was fantastic. And for other obvious reasons.

Laura, at Thrillhouse. Carnal Knowledge played a show here Saturday night before the Gilman show with Floral Beef, Blonde Ambition, Delay, and Here Comes a Big Black Cloud.

Morgan took us to see a real life pet cemetary in the Presidio, SF! This happened at like 3AM so it was super creepy. This is after we saw sea lions at the pier. It ruled.

The line outside of the Gilman show.

BROOKLYN MEETS BERKELEY

Ironically, Cristy and I ended up staying at the same house, after playing phone tag all week and never actually getting in touch with each other. Then the morning after I arrived there, homegirl showed up at the front door.

This is my girl Sandra's backyard (in Bayview, SF). In case you can't tell, that's a real life orange tree with fresh oranges on it. This photo was taken in FEBRUARY, also. Wait... I live in New York... ?

I kinda promised myself I wouldn't do the "oh awesome boring airplane photos" thing, but because it was my first trip alone across the country, I kinda had to.

Another thing that occured in February was Singuya played their first show with Cheeky, Sleepwall, Halfway to Hell Club and Everything Sucks in Bethpage, LI. Singuya is made up of most of Suicide Fix, plus Janel ripping the mic.

Full speed ahead, March. Cheeky is leaving for another weekend, this time with Slingshot Dakota. Those dudes are leaving for a month and a half, so y'all should check out their tour!

Cupcake

Cynthia is an angel baby because she brings me secret surprises like this. Apparently this beautiful gem is from a Kosher bakery called My Most Favorite Food.
