ILLUSTRATION FOR TOM TOM MAG

TF_TomTom_72dpi

A little while back I did this illustration for Tom Tom Magazine's feature on drummer Teresa Figgiani Poidomani. I heard that they were no longer going to use the image, but to my surprise, it showed up in the article today! The feature is part of a regular series on Tom Tom, called One Drummer, One Question where one drummer interviews another. This week's interview is Lisa Schonberg (Kickball, Explode Into Colors, A DIY Guide to Drums) on Figgiani Poidomani, who used to be her drum teacher. Check it out here.

GIRL GERMS: A BROOKLYN SCENE REPORT IN PORTUGUESE

Most comments I get on the daily are from spam-bots. So you can't possibly imagine how happy I was to get this one today, from a real person; a real person from Brazil named Carla, at that:

I'm from brazil, punk and feminist. I read the Girl Germs scene report on MRR. I liked it and I just translated it to portuguese... I found your blog and I'm telling you in case you want to take a look. Hope you don't mind!

QUITE the opposite, Carla. I don't think I could be happier that you translated the article! I seriously almost cried. Check out GIRL GERMS: A BROOKLYN SCENE REPORT in Portuguese here.

FOR THE BLOGS

[FOR THE BIRDS girl by Black And Red Eye]

For those who are new to WISDOM TOOTH or new to my existence, FOR THE BIRDS is a feminist collective & distro that I (among several other rad feminists from New York) am a part of. If you've been following our activity at FTB in the past couple years, you may have noticed that we've been a little less active post - The Big She-Bang IV. Most of the reasons for that can be explained over at FTB HQ.

Being that many of us in the group are currently in grad school, in touring bands, in both (!), or just busy with many other projects, we've decided that having more of a presence on the internet is a good way to stay active and maintain conversations.

I kicked off our new For the Birds blog-ness yesterday. You can check out the blog posts I author at For the Birds here.

SNEAK PEEK: P.S. ELIOT'S LIVING IN SQUALOR 7"

HEY FOLKS! This is the art thing I had in the works that I previously mentioned. I've done the cover art, and am currently finishing the layout for the new P.S. Eliot 7", Living in Squalor, on Freedom School Records. This is the third release on Freedom School that I've done art and design for (#006, #011 & #012), which is pretty exciting to me. So extra special thanks to Mike Hunchback for having faith, and of course, P.S. Eliot.

SKYLINE MAY 2009

I have some new art stuff in the works, but since it is yet to be revealed, I figured I would post some overdue things from last year. This is a drawing I did for 2009's LEAVE HOME show.

I ♥ SOUL PONIES

AND SOUL PONIES ♥S ME!

Because independent record labels are dying off and are being sold to megacorporations more and more often;

Because queer independent record labels, by their “niche” nature, are especially susceptible to closing;

Because we often lose the work of amazing LGBTQ artists to the dollar discount bin of the used record store when queer record labels go under;

Because we wish to preserve the legacies of important riot grrrl and queercore musicians for present and future generations to appreciate their work...

"DECADE"

FYI, I succeeded in doing my only decade-related activity: listening to all six sides of Neil Young's Decade (1977) from beginning to end.
