Kate wrote a sweet post about the DVD and the premiere, too. We met through Kathleen!

& my sister came to town to celebrate!

Thank you friends for sharing this special night with me, and thanks to Kathleen for mentioning the International Girl Gang Underground zine at MoMA!  I think my mantra for 2011 should be something about dreams coming true.

Le Tigre: Who Took the Bomp? screening at MoMA

Earlier this month, Le Tigre announced the completion of their new film, "Who Took the Bomp? Le Tigre on Tour."  The film will be screening at MoMA on Monday, April 4th.  This is officially the first time that something I've worked on has entered the doors of MoMA, so I am pretty ecstatic about that.

I've written about the film a bit on this blog, because working for Le Tigre has been super inspiring; they (individually, and in this case, as Le Tigre) keep making & doing things that make me proud to be part of a feminist art community that is highly inspired by their work. Further, they have many other cool projects going on, which make it really exciting to be a feminist artist or art enthusiast in New York right now. I am working on some writing pieces on this subject, so keep an eye out for that.

I also believe in this film 100%. It's hilarious and smart and a really great story about friendship & feminism.

For now, you can preorder the DVD; out on Oscilloscope, June 7th, 2011.

Hope to see you on the 4th!

My summer internship with Le Teegs came to a close, and I got to celebrate with LT and fellow associate Lily! Dreams do come true, y'all. Food coma, feminist heroine dreams.

WHY I RELATE TO LE TIGRE

As part of my internship, I am currently transcribing the Le Tigre: On Tour film; it's my last task of the summer! Jo said something that just reminds me of the reasons I do what I do, too:

"I remained attached to this idea of having something cheap that you could reproduce, that would circulate and that would have a life kind of in the— in an art world, and in a punk scene and in a feminist scene."

SUMMER UPDATES

July issue of RE/VISIONIST launched and we're all really proud of it, super strong pieces. It might be my favorite issue yet! We were linked by Racialicious (a favorite blog of ours) in April which I didn't pick up on until last month. As always, remember that we are looking for fresh new writing from feminist (with a lowercase "f") perspectives, and we'd love to hear from you.

For the Birds also announced our 5th Annual Big She-Bang celebration coming up quickly this August. We too are looking for submissions, and fast! So please get in touch. This year's theme is feminist communication.

In terms of other eggs that have hatched: I am the new Gallery Manager at Storefront and an intern for Le Tigre on their new film, Le Tigre: On Tour.

Friend Orlando Perez has provided the goods as usual, so here are some more photos of my work at the Pen15 show:

I don't have detail shots of my book yet, but will work on it. I might even have some exciting news, like another group show coming up this summer! We'll see. Hope you are all not sweltering in the NYC heat, and have roomies like mine that are stoked on pumping some AC.
