FOR THE BIRDS & POC ZINE PROJECT PRESENT: AFRO-PUNK

We are thrilled to announce our first collaboration and co-sponsored event with POC Zine Project: a screening of Afro-Punk. This is the first event we've booked since The Big She-Bang IV last August and we couldn't be more excited. The good folks at Book Thug Nation will be hosting us and there will be snacks provided by POC Zine Project. As part of their mission, they'll be distributing free zines by POC zinesters, too! We hope to have folks stay after the film is over for a discussion about why we chose to screen the film and any general reactions or interactions from fellow community members & audience participants. Pen 15 Press & Friends at Bushwick Open Studios

It is official, I will be showing new work debuting at Bushwick Open Studios on June 4th. My good pals at Pen15 Press invited me and some great folks to show work at their home/headquarters.

All of the information is available here. The opening is Friday, June 4th at 7pm. Friday is unfortunately the only night I'll be there, as I will be helping Jason Andrew at Norte Maar / Storefront for the rest of the weekend. So please come by!

INTERNATIONAL GIRL GANG UNDERGROUND WANTS YOU

We are swiftly approaching two weeks until the International Girl Gang Underground zine submissions are due, that is, MONDAY, MAY 31 at 11:59PM PST. I recently wrote a post on RE/VISIONIST about that here.

We are also looking for a FEW GOOD REVIEWERS to review feminist bands. This is a good way to get involved if you're not feeling up to writing a full-blown article or submitting something else. It would be really great to get a bunch of different voices on this. Even if you've never written a review, now is your chance! The reviews are due a month after the initial submission deadline, so you've got 'til June 30th. As always, contact us at girlgangunderground@gmail.com with any inquiries.
